What I learned Freshman Year/Advice for rising Freshman
1. No one uses their locker
In High school, the only people who use their locker are Disney Chanel characters, lol . But if you don't want to haul your textbooks everywhere, ask your teacher if you can keep the textbook for their class in their classroom (they will most likely say yes). This will save you time during class change and prevent back problems in the future ;).
2. Time Management
You will most definitely learn time management your freshman year. My biggest piece of advice is this: Yes, your grades are important, but your mental health is too. While you should be trying your best to get good grades and do your homework, don't stay up all night working. Getting rest is important. Here are some of my tips:
- Don't work past midnight . The latest I've stayed up working is probably, 11 O'clock or so.
- Prioritize assignments based on their due date. If you have two assignments due; one due in two days, and one in a week, work on the assignment that is due first.
- If you know you have sports practice or an extracurricular activity after school, try to get some of you're homework/studying done at school (such as lunch or free time in class).
3.You have plenty of time to get to class
Stop running/power walking in the hallways!! Not only is this unnecessary, it tends to annoy upperclassmen and makes you look kinda dumb. Speaking of upperclassmen, don't be afraid of them. Most upperclassmen are kind, helpful, and too wrapped up in their own lives to make fun of you. Again, usually getting pushed around by upperclassmen only happens on Disney Chanel.
4.Stick with your true friends (you will learn who those are), but don't be afraid to make new ones!
Many people will change in High School, and while it is fun to hang with your besties you've been with since kindergarten, don't be afraid to branch out and meet new people.
5. Have a good attitude
High school will be what you make it. If you go into it with a bad attitude, and don't participate in anything, you will not have any fun. But, when you go into it with a positive attitude and participate in activities (like Spirit Week), you will have a great time!
Good luck friend! I love you, and God loves you too! Type to ya later...
